Do you provide something positive for our young people?
Do you provide facilities or run activities for young people living in Warwick district? If so, Warwickshire County Council would like to hear about it!
The County Council’s Division for Young People and Community Safety Team are keen to hear from any organisations or groups in the area that run activities suitable for people aged 13 to 19 in the district, or have facilities that could be used by local teenagers.
It’s all part of the Warwickshire Youth offer to increase awareness among local young people about the sorts of activities, clubs and groups they can participate in and inform them about local facilities they could use.
The council hopes to gather information on all there is for young people to do in Warwick district and then promote this directly to young people themselves – with the aim of giving them something positive to divert their energies into.
David Jones, Warwick Area Youth & Community Manager, said: “The idea is to help local groups and organisations that are already running great activities for our local young people get some additional publicity for the good work they do.
“It’s a ‘win-win’ situation, as they’ll hopefully get more youngsters joining their group or using their facilities and it’s great for young people too, because they’ll have something positive to do in their free time.”
David Gill, Community Safety Project Officer, said: “We want to hear from anyone who offers this sort of provision for young people in Warwick district. This is a great opportunity for everyone, not just young people but the community as a whole. Youngsters have a lot of energy and if we can channel that into positive activities, that is going to benefit everyone.”
David Gill concluded: “Whether the activities you provide are educational or purely recreational, we want to know about it. You could be a voluntary-run group, a faith-based organisation, a youth club or a business – get in touch and we can help you.”
