Diner wins £100 food hamper

Warwickshire County Council has announced the winner of a luxury food and drink hamper, organised as part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Awards and Food and Drink Festival.

The prize draw, open to all diners who voted as part of the ‘Best Food and Drink Festival Menu’ category was awarded to Mr Chauhan from Hinckley.

The prize consisted of a £100 food hamper, kindly donated by regional food champion, Heart of England Foods, and contained an assortment of delicious treats produced from across the region.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Festival was held for the first time, with the support of Advantage West Midlands, in September. The festival was devised to celebrate local and regional produce and to develop the reputation of Coventry and Warwickshire as a quality place to eat and drink.

More than 200 eateries participated and over 2,000 votes were cast as part of the Best Festival menu competition.

Speaking of the Food and Drink Festival and Awards, Anne Cumberlidge, Tourism Business Advisor for Coventry & Warwickshire, said: “Both the Food and Drink Festival and Food and Drink Awards are widely supported events to encourage and reward quality, excellence and the innovative use of locally sourced or home grown produce.

“The 2007 events were very popular and I would encourage all businesses to register their interest in the 2008 Festival and Awards as soon as possible.”
