Superstore praised for children’s road safety

Road safety champions with Warwickshire County Council are praising Nuneaton superstore ASDA for its continued support of a road safety initiative for youngsters.

KerbSafe, which is a practical course for children aged four to six, has been running in Stockingford Infant School for four years – thanks mainly to volunteers and two staff from Nuneaton ASDA.

Sharon Hobbs and Tracy McCullock from ASDA have been encouraged and supported by their bosses at the store, and regularly visit the school to help teach children vital road safety skills.

Mark Ryles, Nuneaton ASDA’s Store Manager, said: “ASDA believe strongly in helping our community and we are delighted to play such an important role in Kerbsafe. The children really have taken Sharon and Tracy to their hearts.”

Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “This scheme depends on volunteers and we wanted to recognise ASDA’s commitment to the success of KerbSafe.”

Store manager Mark, along with Sharon and Tracey, will be presented with a special KerbSafe certificate at the school during a `People who help us’ assembly.
