Kenilworth hasn’t closed

Local business, local councillors and Severn Trent have got together to come up with a series of initiatives designed to help shoppers and others using the town centre, all of which are being promoted at www.kenilworthweb.co.uk

Measures include a scheme to provide extra car parking for shop staff on a Saturday and a shopper’s guide showing the best way of getting into the town and where to park. Diversions to get into the town centre are also clearly signed for motorists.

A series of town centre events are also planned for the coming weeks. Details of these and the best way of getting into the town centre can also be found on the website above.

The closure came about last week as part of Severn Trent Water’s ongoing £13m Kenilworth Flood Alleviation Scheme, and saw the A452 Warwick Road from the St John’s Gyratory (the Jet garage roundabout), to Waverley Road junction closed until October. The section from Waverley Road through to the clock tower remains unaffected by the closure.
Town Centre Regeneration officer, Jackie Hart, said: "Kenilworth is definitely open for business and once people have got used to the road closures and the new routes in we fully expect that it will be much easier and that more people will be using the town centre - particularly with all the exciting renewal work and openings in the town centre."
