Creative Dance for Older People in Warwick District

Warwickshire County Council’s County Arts Service, are running free weekly creative dance classes for older people in Warwick District.

Fergus Early from Green Candle Dance Company, specialists in Dance for Older People, will be running weekly classes from Tuesday 6th May and continue for ten weeks on Mondays until Monday 7th July (excluding Bank Holiday Monday where the session takes place on Tuesday 27th May)

Sessions will be at the Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre from 1.30 – 3pm and involve a mixture of seated and standing dance. The sessions are open to all older people, and no experience is necessary.

The project would particularly welcome those with dementia and their carers.

Vicki Picken, title, said:  “There are great benefits for older people’s health and quality of life in taking up an enjoyable form of exercise.  We want older people to come along and enjoy the dancing and reintroduce themselves to the fun that can be had whilst helping to keep fit.”

If you are interested in attending the sessions, or would like to find out more about the Creative Dance project please contact Vicki Picken on 01926 412492 or email at victoriapicken@warwickshire.gov.uk
