Riverside House HQ flooded
Warwick District Council’s main HQ at Riverside House in Leamington Spa is currently closed.
Overnight a major flood has occurred within the building. Significant damage has been sustained to a number of work areas, with ceilings collapsed, desks covered in water and soggy carpets.
The council is currently assessing the extent of damage and the building has been evacuated.
WDC is currently unable to answer any telephone calls, except those to the established emergency numbers. The website is also down.
Initial investigations have shown that a problem occurred in a large water header tank in the roof space, which appears to have overflowed.
Warwickshire County Council’s Register Office at Riverside House is also closed. If customers have any concerns then they can visit any of the one stop shops in Warwick, Whitnash, Kenilworth. Please do not attempt to access WDC services via Riverside House.
The following guidelines have been issued to customers who may have concerns:
* Please do not try to phone WDC as there is currently no one available to take your call.
* There is a special service for anyone homeless and they can still access limited services at Riverside House.
* An emergency service for Housing repairs is available on 01926 456456
* It is expected that the distribution of red recycling boxes, scheduled for 10am - 4pm on Saturday will continue as normal.
WDC are doing all they can to restore their services in time for re-opening on Monday morning and residents are being asked to be patient, as some disruption to services is inevitable.
