Top ‘tips’ to tackle shed crime
Warwickshire County Council’s Household Waste Recycle Centres are being used to raise awareness of the dangers of shed crime.
Warwickshire Police in partnership with Warwickshire County Council, H.W.Martin Waste Ltd and Waste Recycling Group are running safe shed initiatives at the centres from Saturday and throughout the rest of May and into June.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “Garden sheds can be an easy target. Warwickshire residents spend a lot of time and trouble securing their homes and contents against visits from potential burglars, but sometimes forget about the security of their sheds or garages.
“Valuable equipment such as lawnmowers, garden and power tools, bicycles are stored in sheds and garages, unlocked and often without adequate security measures in place.”
Community Support Officers will be delivering practical crime prevention advice to householders with garden sheds and handing out information leaflets about shed security at Warwickshire recycling centres between the hours of 10am and midday on the following dates:
Saturday 24th May and Sunday 25th May
Burton Farm HWRC, Shipston and Stockton HWRCs, Stratford Upon Avon
