OBE for Warwickshire School Inspector
A School Inspector for Warwickshire County Council has been awarded the OBE for her contributions to raising educational standards in the West Midlands.
Jeanne Monckton, a School Improvement Inspector for Warwickshire County Council, was presented with the honours by HRH The Prince of Wales at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Jeanne has been working for the Warwickshire Inspectorate since 2006, where she contributes to raising the county’s educational standards by working with schools to help them make improvements to create more learning opportunities for pupils.
Her nomination for the prestigious award came from Education Walsall regarding her work at Watling Street Primary School in Walsall, where Jeanne was previously a head teacher. Jeanne was recognised for her efforts in transforming a failing school into one of the best in the country. At the presentation this achievement was personally acknowledged by the Prince of Wales who asked her about the challenges she faced.
Jeanne said: “This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I got to meet people from all walks of life who had been recognised for their wide ranging achievements. I am extremely grateful to the people who nominated me and would like to dedicate my OBE to all of the pupils, families, staff and governors who supported me at Watling Street Primary to make each day an enriching and pleasurable experience.
“Since moving on, I have been enjoying the challenges of being an inspector and working with such a supportive team. Nothing is too much trouble for my colleagues at Warwickshire County Council, they are all great people and a real asset to the education service”.
Councillor Izzi Seccombe, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families said: “The County Council would like to offer heartfelt congratulations to Jeanne for this wonderful achievement. There is a strong commitment to raising educational attainment in Warwickshire and Jeanne and her team continue to make valuable contributions to achieving this”.
