New vehicles for day services in Warwickshire

Warwickshire County Council have funded four wheelchair accessible vehicles for Community Support Services across the county.

The vehicles have been welcomed by services in Rugby, Leamington and Dordon.

The focus of Disability Services is to support people to maximise opportunities and integrate into the local community.

Alison Malcolm, Manager of Bloxham Day Services in Rugby, explained
“Getting two wheelchair accessible vehicles opens up lots more opportunities for staff to be able to support people to access and be part of their local community on a daily basis.”

Therese Mooney, who uses Bloxham Day Services said:
“The new vehicle’s are great, they are very comfortable, we have used them a lot and have been out to lots of different places.”

‘Friends of Bloxham’ an active local support Group for Bloxham Day Services in Rugby are delighted.

Wendy Classey, Chairperson of the group explained
“Over the last 2 years they have pressurised Warwickshire County Council to provide much needed transport to enable people using the service to have easier access to activities in the local community.

“It’s fantastic that two vehicles have finally arrived and are being put to good use.”

Alison Malcolm added
“We want to say a big thank you to the ‘Friends of Bloxham’ for their hard work and continued support.”
