Rugby Register Office to re-open
Rugby Register Office is set to be relaunched following a refurbishment inside and out.
The register office received funds from Warwickshire County Council’s ‘Improving the Customer Experience’ programme. This has paid for new lighting, replacement skylights and flooring in the waiting room. An information screen will also be added after the refurbishment has been completed.
The roof of the office has also been renewed under the County Council’s routine maintenance programme.
Rugby Register Office has nearly 13,000 visits each year; nearly 250 marriages and civil partnerships are conducted at the premises, 1000 births registered and a similar number of deaths with 2,200 copy certificates.
Cllr Peter Fowler, portfolio holder for localities and partnerships, said: “The waiting room is an integral part of Rugby Register Office and is where many people have to spend moments at times of great importance – such as when congregating for marriages or registering births – or immense stress such a when registering the death of a loved one or waiting for the coroner’s court. The refurbishment will make the waiting room a fitting venue for such occasions.”
