Don’t miss registration for grammar school tests
Parents wishing to put a child forward for a grammar school place in Warwickshire in September 2009 will need to register now.
Warwickshire County Council is reminding parents who would like their child to be tested for a Warwickshire grammar school place that they will need to complete their registration forms by 18 July 2008.
Application forms for the selective test are available from the admissions office by telephoning 01926 74 20 37.
Eligible children should be born between 1 September 1997 and 31 August 1998 and registration forms with validated photographs should arrive by 18 July.
The selection test, which is also known as the Eleven Plus, will take place on the morning of Saturday 4 October at sixteen test centres across the county. Following an ongoing review of the Eleven Plus process, a further ten centres have been introduced so that, where possible, children attending the same primary school will be allocated the same centre.
The University of Durham – Curriculum Evaluation and Management Centre (CEM), has designed two new tests specifically for Warwickshire. Each child will sit two papers, incorporating Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning, Comprehension and Maths (Numerical Reasoning).
Entry to grammar school is based on the child qualifying through the testing process and the level of ability needed to qualify for a place in Warwickshire is very high. Parents should therefore, carefully consider whether their child will be appropriately placed in a grammar school.
