A great excuse to re-cycle
June is all about rediscovering the joys of cycling, whether it’s cruising to beat congestion, battling the bulge or simply getting back in the saddle for fun.
Rocketing petrol process and increasing congestion mean there has never been a better time to get back out pushing pedals for this year’s Bike Week which gets underway from June 14 to 22.
And all this summer Warwickshire County Council is celebrating the tenth anniversary of cycle training, having helped almost 30,000 people to become more confident with their bicycles.
And towards the end of the summer there’s another landmark as Warwick Cycle Races celebrates its fifth anniversary.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “There has never been a better time to get back to cycling. Certainly if you live within a couple of miles of your workplace there is nothing more satisfying than cruising along past the stationary traffic.
“And cycling is great for your health as well, but what many people do not realise is that you actually inhale less pollutants while cycling than you do while sitting in a car.”
