Archaeologists and the Temple in Coleshill!
To celebrate the a 25th anniversary of discovering a Roman temple in Coleshill Warwickshire County Council Museum Service is joining up with the Coleshill Civic Society to hold a day of fun activities and historical information for local people.
This free event will be held on Saturday 21st June at Market Hall, Coleshill from 10am until 4pm. The event will be an opportunity for people to see some of the finds which were made during excavations in the 1970s and question the experts.
The morning will be packed full of family activities to allow everyone to get involved. Old and young alike can ‘’become an archaeologist” and sort through some genuine archaeological objects, have a go at making a Roman mosaic and work out whether their own house might have been built over Roman finds.
For the more historically minded, John Magilton, an archaeological consultant who worked on the site, will give a short talk in the afternoon about the site and its importance within Roman Britain.
Family activities will be available from 10am until 2pm. John Magilton will be speaking from 2.30pm until 4pm.
Glynis Powell, Community Museums Officer for Warwickshire County Council said: “Come along and try your hand at being Indiana Jones for the day. Anyone can join in and there will be something to interest everyone.”
