A-level students join business leaders
More than 640 A-level students are congregating tomorrow and Wednesday to discover first hand from some of the country’s top business leaders what management is all about.
The Annual Management and Leadership Conference is taking place today and Wednesday at the Rugby School Temple Speech Room.
Every Year 12 student in Rugby attends the two-day event.
Participating schools are Lawrence Sheriff School, Ashlawn School, Rugby High School and Rugby School
Hosted by Lawrence Sheriff School and Rugby School, and organised by Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, the conference welcomes over 30 business advisers from across the country as representatives from IBM, Ernst and Young, Defra, Barclays, Deloitte and many others arrive to work with the students on a wide range of business and team building activities.
The Key Note Speaker will be Lynda Gratton of London Business School - professor, author and one of the world’s leading authorities on people in organisations.
Companies from across Warwickshire including Rugby Borough Council, Asda, Jaguar Land Rover, Stepnell, Rugby Lions, Casa Loco and the Mayday Trust will be involved with the judging of the teams and the winning team will be decided in a final presentation in The Temple Speech Room attended by all four Head Teachers of the participating schools.
Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “Bringing together schools from every sector of the education system and giving hundreds of students the opportunity to experience the world of work at a high professional level, the Management and Leadership Conference is a flagship event in Rugby’s calendar.”
The event is organised by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, a part of Warwickshire County Council, as part of their commitment to preparing young people for their adult working life.
