Family fun day at Griff Hollows

An area of Nuneaton is coming to life this week as families are asked to explore a hidden gem on the doorstep.

A family fun day is taking place at Griff Hollows, in the Hill Top area of Nuneaton, from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, July 12.

Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “This event has been organised jointly by ourselves and out partners Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and aims to introduce people to this wonderful piece of open space which provides a haven for wildlife as well as a place to escape to and explore for local people.”

The past year has seen improvement works on the site including new steps at two locations making access down some of the steeper areas of the site easier, new seats, re-painted entrance points, as well as a logo competition held with George Eliot School to find a new logo for the site.

The Steering Group for the site now have ideas for new projects and would like to hear what people think to them and are looking for volunteers to come along and get involved. Further information on these will be available at the event.

Activities include face painting, mask making, a treasure hunt for children, a guided walk (12.30pm), the Wild Man of the Woods, plus displays on the new projects.
