How safe is your business?
Last year there were around 300 Business Fires in Warwickshire, a number of which could have been avoided if companies spent a small amount of time to assess the risk of fire to their business.
This simple warning comes from Warwickshire County Councils Fire and Rescue Service as they set to launch their annual Building Assessment Survey to businesses across Warwickshire.
The main aim of the survey is to collate as much information as possible about local businesses in order to highlight key risk areas. The survey will look at the type of business, the height, occupancy of the building, environmental and community risks and also what fire and management procedures are in place.
The details provided in the survey could make a real difference to the safety of your business. Last year 3000 businesses responded to the survey. It is hoped that more of the 16,000 premise / businesses in Warwickshire will take part this year to ensure the right level of response is deployed for their business should an incident occur.
Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Councillor Richard Hobbs said:
“This is a great opportunity for businesses to get free information and advice from the fire service on how to keep their business safe. I would urge all businesses to take the time to fill in the survey, so that a risk assessment of each premise can be carried out.”
The survey will be available to businesses on-line from the 1 July 2008. The information provided will then help the fire service to create a risk assessment toolkit to identify those businesses most at risk from fire.
As well as being able to complete the survey on-line, businesses will also receive a copy of the survey in the post.
