Magnificent sickness record for seven care workers

Seven staff at North Warwickshire Home Care have worked a whole year without taking any days off sick.

The record is not to be sniffed at and Home Carer, Sylvia Hall has gone a step further by chalking up four years without any sickness absence.

Across the whole of Warwickshire County Council’s Local Provider Services sickness absence fell by 2% in 2007/8.  Simon Robson who heads the service praised the commitment of staff across the services.

He said:
‘There has been a significant reduction in sickness absence.  We provide a service that can be physically, emotionally and psychologically challenging – so it’s a real achievement.’

Sonia Cooke, Home Care Manager, said:
‘Consistency in our service is of particular importance for service users, as they like to see a familiar face, and being able to deliver this directly improves the quality of the service.’

Sylvia Hall, Angela Matthews, Sylvia Probert, Claudia Bennett, Eileen Hennessy and Diane Clarke are the successful seven.

Sylvia Hall said:
‘For most of my working life I worked in factories so when I was made redundant four years ago I decided to do something different and becoming a Home Carer is best thing I have ever done.  I enjoy meeting all the different people.’

Simon Robson added:
“It has been a pleasure to join in the celebration of this teams success.”
