Parking changes in Warwick and Leamington

Warwickshire County Council is introducing various changes to on-street parking and one-way traffic flows from August 4.

The changes are:

On-street pay and display charges after 6pm are being abolished in some streets in Leamington but the charge for parking for up to 2 hours is being increased to £2 in line with the charge in the off-street limited stay car parks.

A number of changes are being made to the residents parking scheme in Leamington, which will allow more people to apply for permits. The scheme is being extended into parts of Avenue Road, Binswood Avenue, and Chapel Street and a new zone for Leamington town centre residents is being introduced in Dormer Place, Hamilton Terrace, Kenilworth Street, Russell Street, and Windsor Street.

The parking restrictions outside the old Library and Art Gallery in Avenue Road in Leamington are being revoked but there will be new restrictions in Mill Road and Woodbine Street will become one-way from Warwick Place to Church Hill.

In Warwick a new one-way system is being introduced in Broad Street and Cherry Street, which will allow more on-street parking to be provided, and changes to the residents parking include a new residents parking zone in Roe Close. Sharpe Close and Trueman Close.

Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “We are aiming for the necessary signs and road markings to be in place on or around the 4 August and Parking Services at Warwick District Council will be contacting residents to advise them how they can apply for permits.”

Cllr Sarah Boad, Chair of the County Council’s Warwick Area Committee, said: “These changes will be a real benefit to residents and the evening economy in Leamington. Since we took over responsibility from the police for on-street enforcement the new parking management arrangements are being regularly monitored and further changes are being considered.”
