Olympic reading challenge at Warwickshire libraries
Children aged 4-12 are being invited to join up for Team Read, a countywide reading challenge with a sporting theme to coincide with the Beijing Olympic Games.
The summer long challenge is completely free for all participants who can join the fun by signing up at their local library. Children can win prizes along the way and will be awarded a gold medal when the challenge comes to a close at the end of August.
A series of events linked to Team Read will be taking place in different areas of the county throughout the summer. The events offer something for everyone and include opportunities for children to meet and work with a number of authors and artists, as well as take part in activities including circus skills, drama and board games.
Many of the organised events are free and others carry a £2.50 charge per child per session.
Stella Thebridge, National Year of Reading Co-ordinator for Warwickshire County Council’s Library Service said: “It’s not too late to sign up for Team Read and I would encourage families with children to come along to their local library to join in the fun.
"The Team Read summer programme will help children to keep on reading through the school break and our exciting series of events offers a range of experiences to those who participate.”
