Pooley Country Park welcomes canal cruises
An exciting new enterprise has brought some life back into the canal at Pooley Country Park in North Warwickshire with a brand new wharf area and canal cruises starting up.
The cruise boat is named ‘Apollo’ and is a historic narrow boat equipped to take up to 39 people from the Warwickshire County Council country park.
Operator, Jim Bosomworth, will be running trips of around 1hr in length up the canal. Prices are Adult £6, Children under 12 and concessions £4. During the week he will be running special parent and toddler cruises.
Cruises start from 10.45am, running throughout the day weather permitting. Jim is also able to do special group bookings by appointment, and will soon be offering schools educational trips.
Over the Christmas period, there will be a very special ‘Santa Cruise’ where children will be able to meet Santa and receive a free gift. This special event will need to be pre-booked. Contact Jim for more information 07779 633390.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “This feature is a great addition to the country park which also offers visitors the chance to enjoy afternoon tea in the tea room, provides children with an exciting adventure play area or simply provides some glorious surroundings for a walk around this historic former colliery and chance to view some of the mining memorabilia on display.”
