Investigation into fatal air collision continues
The investigation into the fatal air collision which occurred near to Coombe Abbey Country Park yesterday will continue throughout today.
This investigation is being led by the Air Accident Investigation Branch and supported by Warwickshire Police, who are also being assisted by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue and the RAF in the recovery process.
The recovery will be a lengthy procedure as the Cessna aircraft, which was involved in the collision, has come to rest in an area of thick woodland and is therefore difficult to access.
The collision involved a Cessna 402 and a small, single engined aircraft and the cause of this collision will be investigated by the AAIB.
Currently this collision is not being treated as suspicious and it appears at this time to have been a tragic accident.
It is currently believed that five people have died as result of this collision.

Incident Commander, Mick Leach said:
“We are working closely with the Air Accident Investigation Branch and Warwickshire Police to recover the bodies from the fatal collision. An Urban Search and Rescue Team from West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service is on site and an action plan to remove the debris from the area is in place.”
