Nuneaton resident wins home composting competition
A resident of Nuneaton has been announced as Warwickshire‘s lucky winner of the Recycle Now Home Composting ‘Golden Bin’ competition.
David White ordered a compost bin as part of Compost Awareness Week celebrations in May, and is now the lucky winner of £50 of garden centre vouchers, donated by DHL, the logistics company that delivers compost bins for the Recycle Now Compost at Home Campaign.
The brand new compost bin has now been delivered to Mr White’s home in Oakdene Crescent. He will now be able to recycle up to one third of his household waste, including both kitchen and garden waste and ‘brown’ waste like toilet roll tubes and egg boxes, by composting at home.
“Not only will his free, home-made compost keep the garden in bloom, but Mr White will also be reducing the amount of methane – a dangerous climate change gas – that is released into the atmosphere when waste decomposes in landfill.” said Caroline Faulkner, Waste Minimisation Project Officer, Warwickshire County Council.
Those who missed out on this year’s Compost Awareness Week need not fear – cut-price compost bins are available to buy throughout the year. Bins are available in Warwickshire for £17 for a 220 litre bin and £20 for a 330 litre bin.
