Job support comes with WRASP
A complete package of support for people looking to get into work is on offer thanks to a new partnership between Warwickshire County Council and Advantage West Midlands.
WRASP (Warwickshire Rural Access to Services Partnership) is a project funded by the county council in partnership with Advantage West Midlands.
It offers support to people in many ways, including helping people to put together a cv (or in some cases being able to have it typed and copied for them), as well as giving advice on job applications and letters and how to search for relevant employers.
WRASP can also offer interview training and job search workshops for people who have registered with the programme.
Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “This service reaches out to many parts of our Warwickshire communities, offering a helping hand to find work.
“It offers ongoing, in-depth support; helping people to set up an action plan which focuses on useful job search activities linked to dates, which can be reviewed how and when they wish.”
For people to be eligible, they need to be unemployed or at risk of unemployment, and of working age.
The employment and training advisor who is available to meet with people at either their local Warwickshire library or at the Stratford Jobcentreplus is Gail Orchard.
She said: “Many people find it extremely useful to talk to someone about what employers expect, both on paper and in an interview situation.
“I can help people start ‘from scratch’, or give advice on their existing job search paperwork. A WRASP interview can also help to bring into focus job roles and sources for jobs that clients might not necessarily have considered; an opportunity to really think about things in a supportive environment.”
