Cotton nappy cash incentive withdrawn

New parents are being urged to act now if they plan on benefiting from Warwickshire County Council’s ‘real’ nappy cashback scheme, as the deal will finish at the end of this month.

Warwickshire County Council is withdrawing the £25 cashback scheme, payable to parents purchasing real nappies for their babies, on 31 August 2008.

Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “I’m sure we are all aware of the current economic climate and budget cuts have forced this decision. I still urge all parents to think about using washable nappies for their babies rather than disposables, it can stop thousands of tonnes a year in waste from going to landfill in Warwickshire.”

And cotton nappies don’t have to be about Terry squares and nappy pins. Modern nappies are shaped, come in a variety of colours, are surprisingly soft, do not contain chemicals, are easy to use, and will save money.

A network of coffee mornings, known as Nappuccinos, are held around the county to promote the use of cotton nappies. These Nappuccinos are designed to give parents the opportunity to touch and feel the different types of nappies themselves, they are free to attend and there’s no need to book.

For even more savings, purchases made at Nappuccinos are subject to a ten per cent discount.
