Chesterton Windmill to open to public
Warwickshire County Council will once again be opening Chesterton Windmill to the public this weekend.
The windmill will be fully operational (weather permitting) on Saturday 13 September and Sunday 14 September 2008, between 10.30am and 4.30pm each day (last entry will be 3.30pm).
The opening is the result of a partnership between Warwickshire County Council and local residents. Many of the stewards for the event are volunteers from the local community.
Volunteers will also be responsible for direction signs and facilities for visitors on the day. They have also been involved in much of the preparation to make sure that the windmill is fully ready to receive visitors.
Jonathan Parkhouse, County Archaeologist at Warwickshire County Council, said: “We are delighted to be opening the Chesterton Windmill to the public as part of the Heritage Open weekend.”
“Warwickshire County Council would like to thank the local residents who have so enthusiastically offered their services as volunteers and ensured that the opening takes place.”
Malcolm Murphy, organiser of the local volunteers, said: “The local residents are very proud of Chesterton Windmill and we are pleased to be able to offer our support to keep up the annual openings of the Windmill.”
Entrance to the Chesterton Windmill costs £1.
