Cawston Underpass operation
A 300 tonne crane will arrive on the site of the Rugby Western Relief Road operation next week as a major part of the project gets underway.
On Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, 16th and 17th September, 10 precast concrete units will be lifted in to place as part of the construction of the Cawston Underpass.
This is in Cawston Grange, near the Cawston Grange Drive/Whitefriars Drive Roundabout.
The concrete units measure 4.5m x 3.5m x 2m and weigh 21 tonnes each. A large 300 tonne crane will be used to carry out this operation.
Work will start at about 5:30am on the 16th when the crane will be rigged, and the concrete units, which have been cast in Taunton, will be arriving on site at about 6:30am.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any disturbance this may cause, but every effort will be made to keep this to minimum.”
