Environmental art goes on show

Key issues impacting on the environment have this week gone on show after being creatively brought to life by artists from around Warwickshire.

Stratford Gallery, which is run by Stratford College, is playing host to the exhibition organised by Warwickshire County Council as part of the Environmental Art Challenge, which took place earlier this year.

Included within the works on display will be the winning schools entry in the Under 11s category, clinched by Clifton on Dunsmore Primary School in Rugby. The winning entry was by Kieran Lowes.

The competition challenged all schools in Warwickshire to submit an A4 piece of work that examined the causes, consequences and solutions to the environmental challenges we face.

Over 130 school entries were received from schools across the county and. It was a close-fought contest for first, second and third place in both the schools categories.

The exhibition at Stratford Gallery got underway yesterday and continues through until the end of the month.

Cllr Martin Heatley, portfolio holder for environment and economy with the county council, said:  “ We’re delighted at how many young people took part in this competition, raising the awareness of climate change, and hopefully people will enjoy this exhibition in Stratford.”
