Calling all parents!

Firefighters from Stratford are asking parents and carers of young children to take advantage of having a free Home Fire Safety Check to help keep their families safe.

In the last five years Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service have carried out free, ‘Home Fire Safety Checks’ in thousands of homes across the County.  To date, these checks have been aimed at the most vulnerable members of society.  To continue this theme, Firefighters from Stratford-upon-Avon are currently offering this free service to the parents and carers looking after young children.

The Home Fire Safety Check offers:
* Fire Safety Advice
* Escape Route Planning
* Kitchen Safety
* Information relating to the safe use of: candles, heaters, electric blankets etc
* Fitting of smoke detectors where necessary and eligible

Area Risk Officer, Jon Dixon said:
“Anyone who has the responsibility of caring for young children should ensure that their homes are as safe as possible and to take all possible measures to ensure that a fire never starts.”

Portfolio Holder for Community Protection, Councillor Richard Hobbs said:
“Home Fire Safety Checks provide parents and carers with a great opportunity to receive free professional advice on how to reduce the risk of having a fire in their home. It doesn’t take long and it will help to ensure that your family stays safe.”
