Girls set to sing for the county

Over 100 girls aged 7 - 11 will be coming together to begin the very first County Junior Girls Choir this month.

Warwickshire County Music Service selected the girls from across the county and has organised their first get together at Coten End Primary School Warwick on Saturday 27 September.

The girls are looking forward to their first rehearsal to develop their talents to form the nucleus of a top singing group and make new friends.

Already well known for its County Youth Chorale the Warwickshire County Council’s Music Service already has a number of high quality singing groups for all ages.

This includes a very successful County boys’ Choir launched last year. The County Music Service aims to create quality singing experiences for all young people from 4 - 18, boys and girls alike.

All county singing groups rehearse weekly under guidance from highly qualified directors experienced in developing young people’s voices.

There is also the launch of the first County Girls Choir for girls aged 12-16 on Saturday 4 October.

Warwickshire County Councillor, Izzi Seccombe, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families said: “I would like to congratulate the County Music Service on this latest venture.

“I’m really pleased to see these new projects launched enabling girls to participate in the county’s quality singing groups.

“I anticipate that both new groups will emulate the success of the established boys’ choirs which have gained notoriety for their talented performances.”
