Cash available for community groups
Money is being offered to community groups in the Nuneaton and Bedworth area to try and help them continue offering valuable services and facilities to their local community.
The Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods (BSN) team has announced the launch of the new funding available to community groups in Nuneaton and Bedworth, thanks to funding from Warwickshire County Council.
Three streams of funding are available;
Planning Ahead Fund is for capital projects to update or expand existing community buildings/ facilities. The maximum amount available to groups is £15,000, and groups will be expected to contribute 10 per cent in kind or cash.
Environmental Action Fund is for capital works such as, new footpaths in an open space, marketing a new environmental community enterprise, reducing environmental dereliction, supporting an allotment project or encouraging wildlife back to a site.
The maximum amount available to groups is £20,000, and groups will be expected to contribute 10 per cent in kind or cash.
And finally, for a limited time only, the Carbon Footprint Fund is for capital works to community buildings to become more energy efficient. Such works might include cavity wall/ loft insulation, installing energy efficient lighting, and heating controls.
Part of this process requires groups to participate in a free energy audit of the building. The maximum amount available to groups is £10,000, and groups will be expected to contribute 20 per cent in cash.
Catherine Marks, Project Manager for BSN, said: “This is a great opportunity for groups. So if you’ve got a project idea you’ve been waiting to get off the ground and it requires capital money, now is your chance.”
The BSN team is able to offer support to groups and projects, through officer time and funding. Please contact the BSN team on 024 7635 4291 with project ideas, to see if the project qualifies.
