Awards short-list announced
Warwickshire’s Youth Offending Team is being recognised for work to help people from a variety of backgrounds back in to employment.
They’ve been short-listed for three prizes at the West Midlands Employer Coalition Awards (WMEC) including individual jobseeker 25 years and under; individual jobseeker 26 years and over; and, public sector employer of the year.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham on Thursday 9 October.
Heather Shilling, Operations Manager (Interventions) for the Youth Offending Service, said: “We have been extremely fortunate with people who have initially worked with us on work experience placements and then gone on to show their true abilities and talents.
“We have been delighted when subsequently they have been successful with their job applications. Sometimes this is within the County Council but more often it is within the wider employment market. “
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families, said: “The Youth Offending Team does a fantastic job, not only helping young people who have gone through the criminal justice system, but also the wider community.
“Getting short-listed is an achievement in itself, and I wish them lots of luck with the actual awards ceremony.”
