Pupil creates super smoothie
A pupil from Abbey CofE Infant School is in for a surprise later this week as a special visitor will be coming to see her.
Eden Godfrey, aged seven, won a Warwickshire County Council competition by answering lots of questions about healthy eating and creating a recipe for a smoothie.
Eden, who is in year two, entered the competition over the summer on the Warwickshire County Caterers website, http://www.myschoollunch.co.uk. The website is aimed at primary school children and is themed around the importance of eating a nutritious diet.
Her winning smoothie, Banana Berry Wizz, is made from strawberry, banana, milk and yoghurt. Basil Bear, My School Lunch mascot, and Ambassador for Good Food and Health will present Eden with her prize on Friday 10 October and her whole class will be given a smoothie.
Warwickshire County Councillor Izzi Seccombe, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families said: “Congratulations to Eden, her smoothie sounds delicious!
“The county caterers website is a great resource featuring a club, games, regular competitions as well as lots of useful information for teachers.
“The competitions, which always centre on a healthy eating theme, are an excellent way to teach children about food and embed good eating habits at an early age.”
