Works planned for busy crossroad

Plans have been unveiled to try out new traffic lights on a busy North Warwickshire crossroads.

Early in the New Year a trial will be carried out using temporary signals at the Green Man crossroads, near Coleshill.

The Coleshill Traffic Management Group, headed by Cllr Peter Fowler, has been set up to try and resolve on-going highways issues in the town.

Cllr Peter Fowler, the Warwickshire County Councillor for Coleshill Division, said: “The Coleshill Traffic Management Group has worked on this project in response to requests for improvements for pedestrians and other road users at the Green Man crossroads. Before any work could be done we need to do a trial to assess what the impact will be on traffic using the busy crossroads.

“The original aim was to get this trial underway in November, but this has not proved possible because of the major works on the A446 by Central Networks.

“I’m pressing for the works to happen as soon as possible, but clearly the current works on the A446 would have a major effect on traffic movements in the area, so we have decided to postpone this trial till after Christmas possibly late January or early February.

“I will be monitoring this situation and hope to provide a date for the start of these important works after Christmas.”
