Remembrance service marks one-year anniversary
A Remembrance Service for the first anniversary of the fire at Atherstone on Stour will be held on Sunday 2nd November 2008 in Leamington.
The event will mark the loss of four Warwickshire Firefighters, Ashley Stephens, Darren Yates-Badley, John Averis and Ian Reid who tragically lost their lives in a fire at a vegetable packing plant at Atherstone on Stour.
To mark the anniversary Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service are holding a Remembrance Service at 7pm on Sunday 2 November at the Parish Church of All Saints, Victoria Terrace (Nr Jephson Gardens), Leamington Spa. Pipers from the West Midlands Fire Service Pipe Band, along with the All Saints Church Choir will be performing during the Service.
A number of distinguished guests have been invited from Warwickshire, and throughout the West Midlands Region, including the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, the Bishop of Warwick, the Mayor of Leamington and Chief Fire and Rescue Officers.
County Fire Officer, William Brown said:
“The events of the 2 November touched the lives of not only colleagues within the brigade, but also to Warwickshire residents and beyond. This is an open service and residents are welcome to attend to remember the firefighters who lost their lives on that tragic evening.”
This is an open service for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and Warwickshire residents to remember their fallen colleagues and the impact this incident has had throughout Warwickshire and beyond.
