New year new start
New businesses looking for a boost and entrepreneurs thinking of kick starting their ideas are being called upon to take advantage of some free training.
Due to the ongoing success of the Business Support Service based in Shipston on Stour, which provides free access to a business mentor, Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and Warwickshire County Council are working together to provide training workshops in the area.
The workshops are aimed at people who are thinking of starting their own business or newly formed businesses. These courses will be held in Shipston on Stour at the Norgren Social Club.
Two courses have been planned for January focussing on business planning and marketing of a business. ‘Planning for success’ will take place on the 13th January and ‘Marketing your business’ on 20th January. Both are full day courses running from 9:30 – 4:30 and are free of charge.
Cllr Chris Saint, the local councillor and Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “I’d urge anyone who has a business idea or is starting their own business to get in touch and book their place on these free workshops.
“We are working hard to try and ensure our rural economies keep growing and that new business ideas are encouraged and taken forward. These workshops are sure to prove popular.”
The Planning for Success workshop is aimed at anyone who needs to put a business plan together. They will be guided through each section and what needs to be included e.g. information about their products and or, how to write business objectives, market research carried out, marketing plan, cash flow forecast and pricing strategy.
At the end of the workshop they should be able to write an action plan identifying any further work to be completed or move on to writing a draft plan.
The Marketing your Business workshop provides plenty of information on how to structure a good marketing plan and the best techniques for implementing it. This covers everything involved in preparing for a sales campaign, how to make people want to buy, how to look after them and how to keep them coming back for more.
The workshop is full of techniques and ready to use ideas to ensure that marketing works for the business.
