Community power drives new Whitnash stop
More than 50 local Whitnash residents turned out to a new Community Forum to look at issues in their area, and as a result they are soon to benefit from a new bus stop.
The new bus stop is soon to be completed in Whitnash Road on the busy G1 (Goldline) route operated by Stagecoach.
The new stop has come about as a result of issues raised by local people and was a hot topic of discussion at a recent Warwickshire County Council Community Forum held at Whitnash Community Centre.
Local County Councillor Bernard Kirton said: “We decided that the first Community Forum would be focused on senior citizens and their needs and wants, and this bus stop was certainly one of the main topics.
“I’m delighted to see Warwickshire County Council working so quickly on this, it demonstrates just how on the ball we are in meeting local people’s needs.”
Local residents had expressed concerns to the council about the distance between bus stops and requested for a further bus stop to be installed, which is now being fitted.
Community Forums are being developed in Warwickshire to better understand the needs of local people and groups have already met in other locations such as Rugby and Stratford.
