Fight to keep Post Office in Camp Hill

Pride in Camp Hill and partners are working hard to secure the future of the Post Office service in Camp Hill.

The Post Office service is recognised by Pride in Camp Hill, residents and partners as being a significant part of the new development plans, which have recently been given a huge boost with news that the Heart of England Co-op and Boots have both signed up to the new retail units.

Colin Ball, Project Director said “The Post Office service is really important for Camp Hill and the new retail development - we are determined to see the service in the new village centre”.

“We are continuing to work hard with Brent Johnson, current postmaster, to help secure him a place in the new retail centre”.

Brent Johnson, postmaster for Cedar Road Post Office said “ We are currently in negotiations and feel we are progressing to a positive outcome and we will continue to provide the Post Office service until the relocation is complete.”

In a bid to keep the current service, partners Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have given support, Pride in Camp Hill has offered a relocation package, although under no legal obligation to do so, and Camp Hill Employment and Enterprise Resources (CHEERs) are continuing to give financial advice and business planning support.  Camargue, the retail Developer, have offered a very good deal on the lease arrangements.

Camargue is in discussions with several other occupiers and hopes to make announcements of further signings for other units shortly. Details of the remaining retail units may be obtained from their agents Norton Brown of Warwick Telephone 01926 409333

The Camp Hill Village Centre is part of the Phase 2 regeneration of the Camp Hill.  This will provide a mix of new, affordable homes and shops within 14.5 acres of Camp Hill and incorporate 2.3 acres of parkland or public open space.  It is being developed by Lovell.

Already open is the Camp Hill Education, Sports and Social Centre (CHESS), which was formally opened last year for use by the whole community.  It is home to a library, a multi-purpose hall, available for a wide range of events and celebrations, a youth centre and conference and meeting facilities for community groups as well as an IT computer suite to host English and Maths and a range of other classes.
