Warwickshire school closure service
Parents and carers have a quick and convenient way to find out if their child’s school has been closed due to bad weather or an emergency.
Warwickshire County Council’s school closure text message service is completely free. The service automatically issues a text message to all users of the service when schools have had to close. It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up online at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures and up to three schools can be selected.
There are currently over 1,100 people subscribed to the service which runs from September to July. In 2007 over 4000 text message notifications were sent out.
Subscription to the service expires at the end of the Summer term each year, so parents and carers need to sign up at the start of each academic year to continue using the service.
Details of closed schools are also fully listed on the Warwickshire County Council website or reported via local radio stations.
