Speed limit changes in Rugby

Speed limit changes on 19 A and B class roads in the Rugby area are underway.

This follows on from guidance set by the Department for Transport and an extensive consultation process resulting in more than 1,000 comments from local people.

Warwickshire County Council’s Road Safety Engineering Team have now started implementing the 19 speed limit changes on A and B class roads in the Rugby area.

Work started on the installation of new speed limits last week, following on from a technical review, an extensive consultation process earlier this year and subsequent approval by the Rugby Area Committee.

Speed limit changes have been made on sections of the following roads:

A4071, A426, A428, B4027, B4065, B4109, B4112 and B4453

Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “Warwickshire County Council is one of the leading authorities with regards to the speed limit review and aligning our speed limits with existing traffic speeds and road conditions can only have a positive effect in terms of road safety, the environment and the communities we serve.”
