Building blocks for a safer future
A new handbook – The Baby Book of Road Safety - is launched this week giving practical road safety advice for parents of children from birth to three years of age.
The handbook, which has been produced by Warwickshire County Council’s Road Safety Team, provides information and raises awareness of issues around in-car safety, pushchair/buggy safety and driveway safety.
Cllr Martin Heatley, the county council’s Environment Portfolio Holder, said: “From the moment you know you are pregnant, the time is right to start thinking about road safety.
“This handbook is one of the first building blocks of road safety that will help parents keep themselves, their baby and other road users as safe as possible on or near the roads.
“Although there is some national road safety guidance available for this stage of development, it is quite difficult and time consuming for parents to find. We wanted to bring everything together in one booklet and make it easily accessible to everyone.”
The free handbook will be available from libraries, surgeries, clinics, nurseries and many more outlets over the next few weeks. Alternatively call 01926 412253 to receive a copy.
