Warwickshire News Mine

An experiment using OpenCalais and Google Maps to tag news stories

Are you the face or family of Nuneaton and Bedworth?

The front cover of a magazine is usually a place reserved only for celebrities and models, but to mark the launch of a new magazine the hunt is on in Nuneaton and Bedworth to find a local star or stars.

On Saturday, January 17, from 10am until 4pm, a photographer will be in place in Rope Walk in Nuneaton to capture the images of as many local front cover hopefuls as possible.

The photo shoot is completely free, and could be anyone of any age if they think they’ve got what it makes to make the front cover. From toddler to veteran, or even a whole family, as many people as possible are asked to come along for the event.

As part of the event they will be asked to complete the following statement ‘Nuneaton and Bedworth is the place for me because…’.

The winner, who will be chosen during the following week, will then be contacted and take part in a makeover courtesy of North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, followed by the photoshoot for the magazine cover.

The magazine is a new project to help both local people and visitors to better ‘discover’ Nuneaton and Bedworth, offering news, features and discounts for readers.

The event is being organised as part of a partnership between Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council to help identify what is special to local people about the borough, and also demonstrate to other people in the area some of the exciting things going on in the towns.
