New opportunities for the new year

Unemployed people living in Warwickshire are being offered a helping hand in getting back into the world of work.

Anyone who has been out of work for at least a year is being called on to set themselves some new goals and take advantage of the free help available from Warwickshire County Council.

Crucial skills such as providing the necessary motivation and self-confidence to get back into work are on offer free of charge through the Councils Skills for Jobs Project.  In addition ICT training, and even preparing a top CV, are available as part of various support available.

Sandra Moon, Motivational Tutor for Skills for Jobs, said: “We’ve had some great successes and would love to hear from people interested in our free confidence building course.”

“This project provides local people with a fantastic opportunity to gain skills and confidence for employment. All the training on offer is free and we are able to pay peoples expenses to attend courses’.

Julie Edwards completed the confidence building course just before Christmas, and said: "I saw details about the course in the local free paper. I was very keen to get back into employment after not working for about 18 months. I’ve found the course excellent for improving my confidence, learning new skills and helping with job applications. I’m also now doing an IT course."

In order to be eligible for the project people need to have been out of work for at least a year and be aged 19 or over. The team are getting a lot of interest, so those who are interested are urged to get in touch so as not to miss the boat.”
