PHILLIS comes to Southam!

People from Southam will be trying their hand at putting on bandages and dealing with emergencies in a session in basic first aid today.

The event is taking place at the Grahams Adams Centre between 2 and 4pm. The aim of the event is to encourage people in their early 50’s to think about their future health and learn more about what they can do to reduce the chances of them losing their independence later in life.

The activities are part of a pilot scheme being run by PHILLIS, a service provided by Warwickshire County Council, which helps people over 50 to live independently.

“The first aid sessions have proved really popular with residents across Warwickshire, which is why we are running this session in Southam. The class will not only give residents 50+ the opportunity to try their hand at learning something new, but it will also provide them with the skills to deal with minor emergencies such as a burn from cooking or a cut from a fall.”
