New centre for Leamington Spa families

Babies, children, dads, mums and grandparents are invited to sample the brand new facilities of Kingsway Children’s Centre in Leamington Spa on Tuesday 27 January.

The grand opening offers a great opportunity for visitors to look around the centre and join in the celebration which will include a puppet show, a bouncy castle, a fit and fun session and the chance to make music with recycled materials with the resident musician. Healthy snacks will be provided – and it’s all free!

The centre will be formally opened by Warwickshire County Councillor Izzi Seccombe, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families, she said:

“Although Kingsway was one of the county’s phase one children’s centres and has been delivering support to young families for some time, there hasn’t been a central base for the full range of services until now.

“Care has been taken to develop high quality amenities at the centre with the needs of local families in mind who are set to benefit greatly from everything on offer. I am honoured to be opening the new premises.”

Children’s centres are exciting, fun places to be for young children and their families where they can join in activities, learn new things, or get some advice or support.  The centre joins a growing network of Warwickshire County Council’s children’s centres and is one of eight up and running in the district.

Jane Bowtell who manages the centre said: “We’re really excited to open the doors to our permanent base on Baker Avenue.  We want all local families with young children to come and have a look - they will be guaranteed a warm welcome and we will be finding out what they would like to see provided in the centre.”

Weekly well baby clinics, Chatter Matters and Play Together sessions are already on offer and families can get advice about benefits and debt through CAB local and Jobcentre Plus.

Kingsway Children’s Centre is supported run by Action for Children one of UK’s leading children’s charities.  The charity is committed to ensuring all children are given opportunities to have the best start in life and fulfil their potential, and runs more than 66 children’s centres across the UK, including Warwickshire .
