Ettington Primary School is a healthy option

Ettington Primary School has been awarded Healthy School Status following months of hard work by the whole school community.

The children, staff, parents and governors have been working towards the award for over a year addressing the five outcomes for Warwickshire County Council’s Every Child Matters.

They have made many exciting changes to their curriculum, with a variety of enrichment activities. There is also a wealth of after school activities including sports, Latin and chess.

The kitchen staff have been part of the working party and serve healthy options daily. School meals uptake has increased this year as a result.

The school’s Healthy School’s Coordinator, Miss Isobel Stanley has led the initiative and inspired others to join in with Health Week, keep fit initiative Wake Up Shake Up Wednesdays and Walk to School Week to name but a few.

Headteacher Rosemary Edwards said: “This has been a real team effort involving the children, staff and parents. The pupils have been very enthusiastic involving themselves in healthy eating and exercise.”
