Have your say about Old Town

Residents of Old Town in Leamington will be able to have their say about the area they live whilst picking up their groceries next week.

A public consultation event will be held at Somerfield’s on Clemens Street on Monday 9 February to give people the opportunity to voice their opinions or to find out more about various services on offer in Old Town.

It is part of a campaign called ‘Your town, your choice’ which has been organised by many partners, including Warwickshire County Council, Warwick District Council and Warwickshire Police, which deliver a wide range of public services.

The aim of the campaign is to find out and address any issues that concern residents, visitors and businesses; celebrate effective partnership working; and also promote inter-generational and multi-cultural activities.

Representatives will be on hand in store on the day to answer any queries regarding the community between 10:00am and 12:30pm, and 2:00pm to 4:30pm.

The consultation event will be followed by a week of community activities in Old Town from Monday 16 to Saturday 21 February including children’s and youth activities, skills projects, health and safety advice, and the chance to have a ‘cuppa with a copper’. Partners will also be having a clean up of the area and tackling anti-social behaviour.

Cllr Richard Hobbs, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Protection, said: “This event provides a great opportunity to have your say and make a real difference to the area of Old Town, as well as promoting a sense of community spirit.”

Inspector Robin Clifton from Warwickshire Police said: “Warwickshire Police always strives to work in partnership with other agencies and we are thrilled to see this project get started.

“I hope this will be something we can roll out to other areas and really involve the public with how their public services are delivered. “
