Warwickshire welcomes new fire chief!

Warwickshire County Councils Fire and Rescue Service welcomes its new County Fire Officer, Paul Fuller.

Paul has been seconded to Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service from Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service on a temporary basis, whilst a new Chief Fire Officer is appointed.

Paul joined Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service as Chief Fire Officer on 18 February 2002.  Since joining The Fire Service in 1978, Paul’s career path has taken him to West Midlands, West Sussex, Staffordshire and Wiltshire, where he has spent time in operations, fire prevention and training and command.

Paul qualified as a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers in 1984, completed a Master of Science in Human Resources Management in 1996, the Brigade Command Course in 1997, and a Batchelor of Science in Fire Safety Technology and Management in 2003 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Fire Engineers. In 2008 Paul was awarded the Queens Fire Service Medal for exemplary service in the Birthday Honours.

Portfolio Holder for Community Protection, Richard Hobbs said:
“We are delighted to welcome Paul to Warwickshire. He brings with him over 30 years of experience and a strong track record in the fire service.  Paul will take over the role on a temporary basis until a new County Fire Officer is appointed.

“On his retirement, I would like to pay tribute to William Brown who throughout his time at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service has shown strong leadership, strength and compassion in what has been some very testing times. I have always admired him for his ability to see the bigger picture in all the challenges faced. It has been a privilege working with him and I shall miss him, both as a colleague and as a friend.

“I wish him all the very best in his retirement and thank him for his dedication and support to making Warwickshire a safer place.”
