Fire crews rescue trapped horse!
Fire crews from Rugby and Bedworth were called out on Friday, to help free a horse trapped in mud in a field at Walsgrave Hill Farm.
Crews were called to help rescue the horse at Walsgrave Hill Farm, Clifford Bridge Road on the Coventry and Warwickshire border at 11:15hrs on the Friday 6th Feb. On arrival it was apparent that the horse was stuck by its rear legs and was struggling to lift clear. The horse was old and needed the assistance of both crews, using animal strops to manually lift the horse clear.
Group Manager Ian Tonner said: " We regularly get calls of this nature and have differing ways to release animals from mud, ice etc. Luckily the farmer had laid down straw to give us a platform to work from, so all that was needed was a strop and a gentle lift. Once the horse was clear of the mud it was slowly walked back to its stable by the owner"
It took around 25 minutes in total to free the horse, who, is said to be doing well from his ordeal.
