Lillington Library turns over a new leaf

Lillington Library will close for just over two weeks during February and March as building work gets underway to provide a new Warwickshire Direct ‘one stop shop’.

Lillington Library will close at 4pm on Saturday 21 February and reopen as Warwickshire Direct – Lillington on Thursday 12 March at 10.30am.

Warwickshire Direct - Lillington is the latest in a series of ‘one stop shops’ open around the district, offering easy access to a wide range of services from both Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council.

Local residents will soon not only be able to borrow books and DVDs from the Valley Road centre, but also apply for bus passes and disabled parking badges, report problems on the highways, apply for housing and Council Tax benefits, and much more.

Regular drop-in sessions will also be held by the Citizens Advice Bureau and PHILLIS, a service which offers advice and information on support services available for older people.

Cllr Heather Timms, Portfolio Holder for Corporate Services at Warwickshire County Council said: "We apologise for this inconvenience but are looking forward to the improved facilities and better access to services that the refurbishment will provide for local residents".

Cllr Les Caborn, Portfolio Holder for Customer and Business at Warwick District Council said: “Our partnership with Warwickshire County Council to provide a single point of contact for council services in Kenilworth, Warwick and Whitnash has been a huge success. Soon our residents in Lillington will also be able to reap the benefits of having such a centre on their doorstep.”

During the temporary closure residents will be able to renew their library books and access library services online at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries.

Users can also return books to any library in Warwickshire.
