Firefighters urge parents to think again!
Firefighters really want to touch the hearts of parents as they role out the second phase of the Good Feeling Gone Campaign.
The campaign leads with the picture of a young girl sitting alone amongst the burnt out contents of her home after it has gone up in flames, asking the question ‘Who will love me when you’re gone?’
Area Risk Manager, Simon Ellershaw said:
“We know that the image is hard hitting, but we want parents to see the devastation a fire can cause and to think about the unthinkable. As a parent myself, I know that I would do anything to protect my children and one of the easiest ways to do that is to make sure that you have a working smoke alarm in your home.
“We are all at risk if involved in a fire in the home, and parents and carers need to think of protecting themselves as well as the children. After all, who will love them when we’re gone?”
Home Fire Safety Checks are free to parents with young children, but so many parents don’t take up the offer. We are hoping that the image used in this campaign will make them think again about that.
Those eligible for free home fire safety checks include:
* Families with young children
* The elderly
* Victims of dwelling fires
* People living in Houses in Multiple Occupation
* Single parent families People on low incomes
* People with a disability
* People with a drug or alcohol dependency
Billboards of the image will be put up in and around Leamington and Warwick, so keep an eye out for them.
